As my 2nd gen Odyssey gets older, I’m starting to notice fewer and fewer of them on the road. So now I’ve taken to keeping a daily tally of how many I see. Today, it was four (not including my own, that would be cheating). My record is nine . You can’t swing a dead cat without hitting newer ones. Does anybody else do this? Not with 2G Odysseys, but with their own car? Or am I the only one with this affliction?

I keep a tally on D100's and ST’s.
That way, I can just use my fingers to count them.

I drive a 95 Camry and I’m honestly quite surprised with how many I see on the roads on a daily basis. Today I saw 5!

I see almost no XJ8s, which makes me sad. Every once in a while, I’ll think I see one, but it’s invariably and XJ6.

I do, but I also have a 4Runner in Colorado. Since they haven’t done any updating since 1954, I see about 1200/day, and that’s just in my sons school drive line!

Clearly, those didn’t suffer from the same frangible transmission as the 2G Odyssey. I’m on my second, but I got 195 k miles out of the first one. But only 100k miles out of the first engine.

With the 86, i f the count gets as high as 1, that’s cause for celebration. I definitely notice them though.
The Octavia is so generic looking I struggle to even recognize my own, never mind one passing me by. Not that there are many - niche brand here.
With the Mitsi, I occasionally try to keep track of the Pajero to Landcruiser to other SUV ratio round where I live. It’s usually around 1:1:1, though when I’m not actively counting I usually have the impression that all SUVs are L andcruisers, just like all trucks are Hiluxes (also untrue: there’s mote Colorados if I actually count)

I do it too with my Honda Fit. I’ve even had some days where I’ve come across 1-2
Honda Fits in the exact same dark purple in Sport trim as mine.

Not specifically this, but I keep tally of what cars don’t use their headlights when it’s dusk/night. It’s usually a tie between Rav4's & CR-V’s lol

The third-gen Camry is the
best car ever made :o)

That’s what happens when you get a car. Once you get it, you see a lot of them on the road!

All you have to do is go to the local auto recycler and you should have nooooo problem finding some of them.
Or see many of them at this place:

You far from Stockton, California?

My Odyssey is brown/gold, which I’m told is actually “champagne.” I see far more in that color than any other. Though today I saw this silver one, a nice burgundy one, and I’ve also spotted a lovely green one. Having a 2003 champagne Odyssey makes me practically invisible. I should be a drug mule.

It’s an affliction I can’t really have because I
see another of my car maybe twice a year...

Speaking of lights, my knew gear grinding comes from people who put those big LED bars on their brodozers and drive around on the highway with them turned on.

When my beige Aerio was written off, it was due to a guy “not seeing me” when doing a U-turn.
And when I had to get it towed from the collision reporting center, the tow truck driver said he walked past my car 3 times not seeing it before he found it.
Now THAT is what I call an invisible car.
So if you wish to switch to being a drug mule, I strongly recommend a beige Aerio.

Same. Not a lot of second generation Mazda5s were sold, so I’m always counting the ones I see. I can tell by the color if there’s the possibility of them having a manual transmission, and in six years I’ve only seen one other one equipped like mine. I didn’t get a chance to chat with the owner, but I would like to have done so.
One downside to having a vehicle that didn’t sell in large numbers is that there aren’t a lot in the junkyards, at least not the self-service ones I go to. I’ve seen a handful of 1st generation 5s and no second generation, so I haven’t had a good, cheap source for upgrade parts. I’d like to add a few things like the USB port, leather accents and a few other bits and pieces, but most online junkyards want more than I am willing to pay for these parts.
One thing I have seen plenty of at the yards? Sadly, it’s second generation Odysseys...

As someone who drives a vehicle that isn’t a crossover or truck, I wholeheartedly agree.

I would be that person. I’ve almost bought a few parts Jags.

All with asploded transmissions, probably. By all rights, I should have dumped mine when the tranny shredded itself at 195k miles. But I have yet to find anything I’d rather drive in that class, I’ve carried my family all over the country in it, and I’d rather amortize $3500 over a few more years than go in a hole for a new/used vehicle that I wouldn’t like as much.

WRXs are fairly rare in my part of Louisiana. I always regret it when I see one and I’m not in mine.

I once had one, beat living shit out of it. Held up great, except for the transmission.

With my current fleet, I can walk out my front door and see 6 Rangers, on a good day I might see a dozen just on the drive to work. I can go many months before seeing an E30 3 series and there only going to get more rare as they age. My motorcycle a Kawasaki Super Sherpa, I’ve never seen another in the wild since I bought it, and the the 1 I looked at that sold before I could get to it. there is probably less then a half-
dozen in the entire province.

I do this, but with final-gen T Birds. Can’t really explain why, but I went a few years there where I’d see one (not the same one) damn near every day. Mostly on the south side of town, or east side. It seems like 97% of that gen T Birds were sold in Austin, or ended up here.

I note other first-gen S60s, and contemplate to myself that their drivers must be people of taste and refinement, but I don’t actually count the sightings.

Jeep. I also ride a bike, but have never seen the same one riding around.

I do that with early 90s Mopars. Usually just cars and minivans though. 2 minivans I see almost daily have started waving when we pass each other.
Best count to date was 19 in my 20 min drive home.
